Skiing from the Farmhouse
A skiing holiday in Slovenia offers a great family friendly destination....
» Short transfers - no car required «
In the winter Slovenia changes from a beautiful, sunny country with great mountains to a beautiful, sunny country with great mountains and SNOW. A terrific ski holiday destination. Completely different in feel to the mega-resorts throughout the rest of Europe, Slovenia has a very relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. Bags are left in a pile at the bottom of the slope to be picked up on the way home, queues (if there are any) are jovial and chatty, there are more locals skiing than tourists and no distinction is drawn between the two. While you may not find the same number of runs available as you would in Chamonix or Les Tois Vallees, you also won't be asked to pay twenty Euros for a coke and a slice of pizza. The food on the hill is good, filling and no more expensive than anywhere else in the country. Ski school is much cheaper than elsewhere, particularly the one-on-one lessons which cost around €27 per hour.
Unlike many destinations in the Alps, you won't spend half your holiday on bus transfers. Distances here are short; Ljubljana's Brnik airport is just 30 minutes from us and at this small, modern airport it will take you less than 30 minutes from touch-down to driving away! You also do not need to hire a car; we can organise all transfers for you.

Vogel
Towering above Lake Bohinj, Vogel is the most strikingly beautiful ski area in the country. It looks like a child's drawing of a winter wonderland and, importantly, is the Eastern-most mountain barrier for precipitation coming in from the Adriatic; meaning that it has the heaviest snowfall in the country. The season runs from December until the first of May and there is a good range of runs with the emphasis on intermediate blues and reds. More information is available below along with an outline of some of the other ski areas within easy reach of the Farmhouse.

The closest resort to Ljubljana (30 mins drive), Krvavec sits about half an hour south from the Farmhouse and is best avoided at the weekend when it gets very crowded. Excellent facilities though.

The most neighbourly feeling of all the resorts. Kobla is mostly used by the families who live up and down the valley between Bled and Bohinj. It has an incredibly friendly atmosphere and is actually the closest to the Farmhouse; less than fifteen minutes drive.
